THE WHY QUESTION (PART 7)

PERSPECTIVES
How do you see life? How do you want to see life? It is really a choice and it is a choice we all make whether consciously or unconsciously.

Happenings around the world and perhaps in our lives may make us want to come to the conclusion that life is vanity. King Solomon thought so too when he made the famous statement in Ecclesiastes1:2 “Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity”. However, I do not think that the Life Jesus died to give us is vanity. It was worth dying for, it is definitely worth living for. This life is a gift and we can choose to see it as such.

The next question might then be, “Why did the Giver give us this gift?” He gave us in Love and for the purpose of Love. We can choose to live for that purpose. This Love is unconditional. Little wonder Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:12-13 said, “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or with empty, with plenty or with little for I can do all everything through Christ who gives me the strength I need”. This kind of man has understood that it is now about him and destiny and nothing can stop him on that journey. This kind of man has a positive outlook to life, and so, every obstacle, mistake or short coming becomes a springboard that will guarantee him a place in destiny.

I remember beginning this series with a question that Jesus asked on the cross when he said, My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me?” Jesus did not ask that question to challenge the authority of God; neither did he ask out of doubt of the love of God; for at the Mount of Olives, he had of his own will and purpose, surrendered his will to his Father ( Luke 22:42). In that statement, Jesus showed he was human. He declared his reality that he has indeed identified with man for purpose to be fulfilled. He took on the fallen nature of man and for the first and only time in all eternity, he was severed from the intimate relationship with the Father. For he who knew no sin became sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). In that statement, the fullness of God’s love and justice was revealed.

What a sacrifice! And if you have believed in the finished works of Jesus, you can wake up everyday in gratitude for the Life you have been given. You can choose to honor that Life, and have a positive aglow to that Life. When we focus on this Life, it dominates our life. Life is no longer vanity or meaningless. Life becomes purposeful. Just like in the words of a great teacher, “whatever dominates your life will give direction to our life.”

I LOVE YOU.
