Dads and Husbands (Part 2) – The Beginning

To understand much, I think it is important we go back to the beginning and examine how it all started. In the beginning, as recorded in Genesis Chapter 1, God created man in his own image; male and female he created them ( Genesis 1:27; Genesis 5:2). So you see from the beginning, God created them male and female. Verse 28 of Genesis chapter 1 is very instructive. It says, ” And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the Earth”.

The blessing and the instruction of fruitfulness, multiplication, subdue and have dominion was given to both male and female. Therefore, any doctrine or theory that seeks to promote any teaching to the contrary is Anti-God and his plan for mankind. This can be seen in a plethora of scriptures. For example, the story of the five daughters of Zelophehad as recorded in Numbers 27 which culminated in His son Jesus Christ, in whom, “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, Slave or Free, Male or Female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus”. ( Galatians 3:28)

However, it must be established that the blessing and instruction of dominion was not given to male and female to wield against each other. The instruction was to be exercised over the earth. The dominion mandate is so powerful that male and female would not be able to wield it without God. This is what it means to have God as a Father, which means source. This power could only have been wielded with God as the source of male and female. This is because both male and female and the power given to them came from God and can only be sustained by God.

Hence, when male and female in the exercise of their freewill rejected God and chose the tree of knowledge of good and evil, male and female was vitally disconnected from their source ( Genesis 2:9; Genesis 2:17). The result is the famous “curse” or better put, the consequences of their actions. God  was simply telling them, “these are the consequences of your actions, this is what it means to be vitally disconnected from me.” For the purpose of this series, we would pick just a part of the pronouncement, Genesis 1:16b, ” Then God said to the woman, and you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you”.

This pronouncement, I believe is at the heart of so many conflicts that we have in the world today. The wrongful exercise of the dominion mandate. The desire of one to control another and the other in retaliation lording it over the one who sought control. All these because of the vital disconnection.

” Lord Jesus, we pray that with meekness we receive the engraved word of God that can save our souls. Thank you for the light of the glorious gospel that has shone in our hearts and is enabling us to live as we should, in Jesus name, Amen.“
