WHY ASK WHY-YOU DO NOT QUESTION GOD.
As a child, I was raised to know God.
Growing up, I had so many questions; questions about God, questions for God, questions about many happenings in my world that I did not understand and so I figured I could ask God. After all, He is the all-knowing one. He shouldn’t be afraid of my questions.
I remember asking an uncle of mine one of the numerous questions I had and he replied that I do not and should not question God. Though that ended me expressing some of these questions verbally, it did not end my heart cry and yearnings. Then, one day, I stumbled upon the question that my Lord Jesus asked on the cross in Matthew 27:46:
“…why have thou forsaken me?”
I do not believe that God wants us to live in denial. After all, his word says in Mark 11:23, that,
“…whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea…”
We do not deny the presence of the mountain, rather we confront it. This is because God is raising sons not hypocrites.
Jesus brought the highest revelation of God to mankind. He revealed to us the fatherhood of God (Gal 4:6-7). God is our Father. He is our source and he desires to have a relationship with us. A thing can only be sustained by its source. So how is it then that when we want answers to real life issues we go to every other place but God?
God is a father and a friend. The sacrifice of Jesus made us friends of God. I am friend of God. This is a love relationship and it is within the bounds of this relationship to try to ask questions when things are not clear; we are only admonished in love not to lean on our own understanding.
Love believes in the best of a person; Love never fails. Believe in God’s best that he has never mismanaged the life of any man and he cannot start with us.
Proverbs 18: 10 makes us to understand that the name of the lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs to it and they are safe. By what name do you know the Lord?
